Monty J. Batson, Esquire, brings over two decades of experience in criminal and administrative law to Dethlefs Pykosh & Murphy – Attorneys at Law. He represents clients facing criminal charges and those undergoing disciplinary actions or investigations before administrative tribunals.
Whether defending clients in criminal cases or advocating for professionals facing disciplinary actions, Monty’s approach is grounded in his deep legal expertise and commitment to achieving the best possible outcomes. Known for his client-focused approach, Monty prioritizes open communication and provides clear guidance, ensuring his clients fully understand even the most complex legal issues.
Monty provides representation throughout all phases of the criminal justice process, from pre-arrest investigations to trials. His extensive experience includes securing acquittals, dismissals, and favorable plea agreements. Monty has successfully defended clients in high-stakes felony trials, minimizing the impact of charges on their lives and careers.
Before joining the firm, Monty served as both a prosecutor and hearing examiner for the Bureau of Professional and Occupational Affairs. As a hearing examiner, Monty presided over cases for 29 professional licensing boards/commissions and 29 state agencies under the Governor’s jurisdiction, ensuring fairness and due process throughout the administrative adjudication process. This experience gives Monty unique insight into how cases are evaluated by administrative tribunals, allowing him to anticipate challenges and develop effective defense strategies.
Monty also represents students and faculty in Title IX cases, advocating for just outcomes and due process during misconduct investigations. His extensive administrative law background strengthens his ability to navigate these sensitive matters.
Monty is admitted to practice law in Pennsylvania and federally in the Middle District of Pennsylvania. He is a member of the Dauphin County and Pennsylvania Bar Associations and remains involved in the local legal community.
